Blessed X2

Hello!
Sandra here again with another layout created using this month's

I watered down the  Turquoise  DecoArt Shimmer Spray that is in the kit and used it as a watercolour for the background, along with some orange gelato.

I altered the alphas for the title with a Uni gold paint pen

I LOVED the Teresa Collins sticker sheet in the kit. I covered one of the wooden circles in the kit with the circle sticker from the sheet, filing the edges to make it smooth.

Then I used it as the centre of my main flower.
I punched out some small heart shapes, inked them, and layered them behind the circle.

(this is when I thought... ooohhh lets make the circle a button.. *sigh, yes, it would of been easier to make the button BEFORE sticking on the punched hearts. ;) )

I used a punch and a hammer to punch out two holes

Then I simply added some twine and adhered it to two large punched flowers which were layered on top of each other.

It really was a fun and easy flower to make!

See you next week with my next layout!!
Take care of you

Swing!

Hello! Sandra here again.

Love it when we get to share with you what we create with the new ScrappyChat Designs kits. This month it is my turn to share with you three layouts I have created with the new Charming Kit.
This kit is chockablock FULL of goodness. It truly caters for every style.
Gorgeous papers, stickers, alphas, DecoArt Shimmer Mister, doily, sequins.. etc etc ;-)
AND
X-Press It Sticky Barc!

Before I share my first layout, I would like to share with you a couple of things I learned when I first started playing with this stuff.
The Sticky Barc is REAL wood.. it is a very fine layer,  but it is real wood. With wood grain. I learned that the hard way.
My first thought was.. ooohhh.. wooden flowers!!
ba bouw --- wrong.
(that was supposed to sound like the depressing “wrong” sound from a game show.)
The Sticky Barc is very strong willed, so when I tried to turn these gorgeous die cuts from Spellbinders into blooms it didn’t work, they kept on unwinding.
*sigh

(if anyone knows the trick to this please share with us!! ;-) )
So...Hmmmm.... what next?
Aha!! A faux bow!
So I cut out a couple of ovals and also some rectangles and .....
Ba Bauw.... another mistake!
I forgot that the Sticky Barc has woodgrain, and I had mistakenly cut it out wrong, so that when I tried to fold the oval in half to make the “bow” it went against the grain and it snapped.
*sigh
Can you see how I have cut it wrong?? You will have to look very carefully.

hmmm.... well.. I will just cut it so that when I fold it, I fold it WITH the grain....

and then staple them together.. making sure not to crease the folded end.
I embossed one of the wooden circles that come in the kit with
Beck BT Tinby Designs Metallic Melts in
Gold Nugget (you can purchase it in the online store)
I then assembled the bow.
By first stapling the folded oval to the base.. like this
(it looks a bit rough huh?)

and then repeated with the other oval and base.
And then I peeled back the adhesive backing (cool!! ) from the base ...

and stuck it onto the layout with the gold embossed circle as the centre.
I then assembled the layout.. using the DecoArt Shimmer Mister and the same Beck BT Tinby Designs Metallic Melts and some ink and a stencil to create the background. And (finally!) here is the finished layout....

What's Cooking?

Hello again. It's Heather here with my third layout using the Freestyle kit. I made this kit to show you how you can create a cool page with a mix of all the papers in the kit.

Here's my layout:

I love the idea of using all sorts of paper to create these layered shapes and I have made a video to show you how. If you are a Scrappy Chat Designs member the video link will be emailed to you.

Here are some close-ups:

I wrote my journaling on a tag and tucked it behind the top right square. This was such a fun page to make!

Happy scrappin'!

Need I Say More?

Hello there. It's Heather again today. I have my second layout using the amazing Freestyle kit to share with you.

When I first opened the kit, the first paper I pulled aside for a background was this "I Love You' paper. I love text as a background and this repeating sentence says it all. Hence my title, "Need I Say More?" If you look closely you can see that some of the sentences have pink around them. I highlighted these sentences by outlining them in pencil. This draws the eye in just enough to make those pink sections stand out and become focal points of the background design.

This was a simple page to make. The strips behind the photo are just brand strips and leftovers from trimming up the "I Love You" paper, reversed. I used the heart stencil to trace the shape onto cardstock and just roughly cut it out.

To make the metal embellishment silver, I first gave it a rough coat of gesso. I then just painted it with the Silk Luster. I cut the doily from the kit in half, then just painted the pattern with the Silk Luster as well. Easy! How versatile is this product! I'll be using it again that's for sure.

I finished off the page with  a small piece of ribbon and a title. I unrolled some cotton and adhered it under the photo. I adhered the background paper and the photo on angles to add a bit of interest.

Thanks so much for dropping by. If you like this kit, or are interested in receiving a kit plus 3 video instructions each month, email orders.scrappychatdesigns@gmail.com or check out the website here.

Happy scrappin'!

Heather
