Benny

Hello!
Sandra here today with my next layout to share with you.
Oh my.. it seems like ages! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you all well for the New Year.. (eek.. which we are already a month into!)
My layout to share with you is a layout created using the December Fun and Free kit.

I experimented a bit with the alcohol inks and the stencil that came in the kit.
First I tried using different mediums for the base on a spare sheet of white card.
I tried using nothing, gesso and Jo Sonjas Clear Glaze Medium which I had bought by mistake a while ago (I thought it was clear gel medium!! doh! should of gone to Spec Savers! )
I covered some with gesso, some with the glaze and left the others unchanged.
I played with some impasto the alcohol inksand stencils, stamping, mists and found I quite liked the affect of the glaze, with the impasto, stencil, ink and mists down the bottom.

so I gathered my material....

and using a baby wipe I covered the base of the white cardstock in the kit with a coat of the clear glaze medium.

I then added the impasto using a knife and a stencil. (* note to self.. put one of those cool palette knives on my shopping list!)

allow to dry.. or heat gun it.
add a bit of stamping using the Kaisercraft little triangle  stamp from the Rustic Goodness kit.
and then add some drops of the alcohol ink.

and then, while it is still semi wet add some yellow mist (not in the kit)

Heat gun dry.
Being careful not to make the impasto bubble.. but then again... that could look rather cool!!
;-)
Here are some close ups of the finished effects.

I hope this encourages you to grab a spare piece of paper, gather your mixed media materials
and..
Just play!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sit Back, Relax and Just Breathe.....

Well the school holidays are winding up here in Australia and I've had a very relaxing time. I hope you got a break too!

I'm in that relaxed, holiday mode so I thought I'd share a holiday pic. This one was taken on a previous holiday but there's still that same relaxed feeling about it. Because it's holiday time here, the team at Scrappy Chat Designs thought it would be a good time to show you how you can use up the leftovers from your various kits.

I went back to the Sea Breeze kit but also added some items from a number of other kits. Here's what I came up with:

I love how the soft colours add to the relaxed feel of the photo. I created the background with various mediums and stamps. All the details will be sent out to Scrappy Chat Designs members.

I Love You .....

Happy New Year!

What a fantastic 2014 we have had. So many gorgeous kits and just as many amazing layouts from the very talented team here at Scrappy Chat Designs. Every month I feel very honoured to be amongst such talented and inspirational ladies. I am so looking forward to this year and to all the fun to be had with new and exciting kits!!

To finish off the year I've created a layout of me and hubby. I've used up my left overs from the 2014 kits.

So to begin with I gathered up some scraps. My favourite Crate Paper "So Lovely", some of the "Sea Shore" collection from Prima Marketing and the lovely green "Splotch" from Ruby Rocket's Country Cookin' paper collection. Combining all three off cuts made up my background piece once I'd stuck them all together.

I used some October Afternoon papers from the Public Library selection "Due Date" to create my paper stack along with some twine and a small white doily.

Some random alpha stickers added to the background along with some plumbers tape, stamping and splats.
My layout has a story behind it about how we met in the library at school. I was 16 and he was 17. I happened to be reading the same book he had just finished ........ it went on from there and 23 years later it's better than ever :)

I've documented our story on the back. He doesn't like photo's (can you tell? LOL) but I am on a mission to take as many of us as I can. Other than our wedding photos I think there might be Five in total! My New Year's resolution ...... to take a photo every month during 2015 :)

Did you make a New Year's resolution??

Happy New *2015* - Scrappy Chat Friends!

A warm welcome to 2015 Scrappy Chat Friends!

A New Year brings a fresh start....

I always love the start of the new year.
With the summer holidays here it makes for the perfect time to spend a little down time creating!
(Once the kids are happy, that is!)

Here is a layout I had a lot of fun creating!

{Create Art}

I have used leftovers from some of the 2014 kits to bring this layout together of my middle daughter
Madison.

October Afternoon (Story Time paper)- 'Explore' kit
Crate Paper (Spot base paper)- 'Freestyle' kit
Gold Trim & Metallic Melts- 'Sea Breeze' kit
 'Charming' kit
Crafter's Workshop Stencil & Kaisercraft Triangle stamp - 'Rustic Goodness' kit
Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Inks- 'Fun and Free' kit

Madi truly loves her ART!. She is always sitting at our dining room table, being ARTY.
Drawing, painting....at present she is adding art to a pair of white canvas shoes...and they look amazing!

I used a square piece of cardboard cut from a pizza box (roughly 8cm x 8cm) & used the edge as a stamp. Randomly stamping around the edge to create a border & over the word ART, I also used a fine marker to add fine detail.

So why not grab your leftovers & get creating!!

You can start your 2015 off with a
CREATIVE BANG!

(be inspired by The Arty Chic's here at Scrappy Chat Designs in 2015!)

Leaving a print with the Fun and Free kit

Hey Everyone!  It's Beck BT here again, and while I’m away sunning it up having a nice relaxing break with the family I’m here to share with all of you my 3rd layout created with the ‘Fun and Free’ kit.  I absolutely adored playing with this kit and the products contained in it.  The divine papers from Websers Pages and the perfect accompanying products has meant it very easy to create 3 layouts I even have lots of products and ideas left over to create more!

For this layout I started off with some stencilling in the background with the harlequin pattern of The Crafter’s Workshop Stencil.  I then added some splatter with the Turquoise alcohol ink.  I love how soft this colour is in its undiluted form.  I added some of the Pink Alcohol ink to my craft mat and then patted my hand into it.  And then rubbed it over the stencilling to accent the design.  I added more of the colour by patting the colour directly to the background.  You might even be able to see my hand print!  LOVE that it has a bit of me in the layout, even if accidental.

To the background I added Beck BT Tinby Designs Metallic Melts using some clear ink through the circles in the stencil and then sprinkling over the melts before returning the excess back to the container and then heating to melt.

I had fun with some Spellbinders die cuts on this layout again – you know I love to use my die cuts on my layouts!  I die cut the Reflective moments die from the cardstock and applied some crackle paste over the top.  We had this product featured in the last kit.

It looked lovely and a great deal more dimensional.  I also die cut some clouds and the sun with the Day Dreams die set.

I hope you enjoy my last share with this kit and how it came together!

Happy Scrapping!

Beck BT
Here is some more info on the kits. Kits are still $39 plus postage and are great value for money as they're like doing three classes in your own home. They are self-paced class classes that you can complete on your own or with a group of friends

Each month there will be LOADS of added inspiration with one of the designers creating 3 layouts (this month me!) of their own style with the kit while the other two ladies will be sharing some added techniques using the product in the kit, so you can learn more and more!  As members you will get the full technique sheets e-mailed out from the additional posts from the other two Arty Chics.

Each premier kit:
  • comes with video AND instructions to complete the three layouts
  • gives members technique sheets to further learn how to use the products in the kit in different ways.
  • features many techniques with product to be used well after the life of the kit.  (With all of our kits you will have plenty of product and knowledge to add to future projects)
  • comes with photos of each project including close up detailed pictures
  • comes with all the product needed to complete the projects with a list of additional basic items used such as ink/ paints/gesso/texture paste and colour sprays you might need out of your supplies.
The kits focus on how to use various products teamed up with some stunning papers to compliment them. There are always less- or non-consumable products in our kits to help you complete some beautiful projects and learn many techniques and different ways of using the products.

A Fun & Free Project!

Hello there Scrappy Chat friends! It's Heather here today with a layout that I had so much fun making, using the fabulous 'Fun & Free' kit.

I absolutely love this kit! It has so many wonderful goodies - a stencil, Metallic Melts, twine, bits & pieces, two amazing alcohol inks, cardstock and wow - that stunning Webster's Pages paper! I'm in love!

Here's what I made with it:

I took advantage of the stunning papers to make the background and title for my layout. Do you like the feathers? I show you how to make them in the Technique Sheet that gets mailed to all Scrappy Chat Designs members.

Here's a close up:

If you haven't used some of these products before, don't be concerned - the other Arty Chics and I will always share ideas and tips and tricks on how to use the products in the kits.
