Happy Snapshot and a sad farewell

Well, sadly,  as Beck has already mentioned in her post below, this will be my last blog post for Scrappy Chat Designs.  :(

I loved playing with the Home Grown Kit.
And as you have already seen by all the layouts from the DT (and wait until you see what the Guest Designer Amanda Hall has in store for you! wow!)
oops.. I digress.
Well as you have already seen by what the other girls have created, this kit is very versatile.

For my last layout.. Happy Snapshot, I created a VERY quick and simple layout.
I found an old Kaisercraft stamp that I have been wanting to use for ages and simply stamped the background with black ink.
Added a few paint "splats" (another Kaiser stamp from an earlier SCD kit) using white ink.

And then I simply added layers of the kits paper, that yummy cork sheet and the Jillibean Soup Kraft Tape in the kit.

A sprinkling of stars and fragments by  Stampendous  and the layout is complete!
As I said .. quick and simple.. it is amazing how much depth a simple stamped background can create on your layout.. why not give it a go?

So now it comes to the time to say goodbye.
I am leaving for personal reasons.. Life is just getting in the way (I'm sure most of you can relate :) )

I would firstly like to say THANK YOU to Beck for having the faith in me to include me in her amazing team.
I LOVE the kits and I have learn't so  much in my time with Scrappy Chat Designs.
Not only have I learn't by pushing myself trying to come up with different ideas and techniques to use with the kit products.. but also from each and every wonderful Arty Chic on the SCD DT team.
I leave the Scrappy Chat team all the richer for knowing these wonderful girls.
Behind the scenes these girls are amazingly supportive, funny and just downright gorgeous.
We have laughed together, cried together and driven each other mad with the constant "pinging" of the FB messenger notifications ;-)
I know that we shall remain firm friends.. and for that I will remain so thankful to Beck, Heather, Fiona, Renee and Kim. Love you girls xx

And also thank you to YOU.. the Scrappy Chat Members.
For all your kind words and for giving what we do a go!
It is always wonderful to get feedback from you all.

So, that's it from me for now.

Happy Scrapping,  and Take Care of You :-)

xx

Laugh

Hello!

Sandra here again with my second layout using the fantastic Country Happiness kit.

I love how this kit is perfect for those family photos and how it lends itself to different colour schemes.

For my layout, Laugh, I have gone with  a bright and happy scheme to match the happiness in the photo, by picking out the yellows in the kit.
I have used the DecoArt Chalk Finish Paint to alter my chipboard title, then lightly inking the edges to make it stand out a bit.

The background was created by using a dot stencil and lightly  sponging with the DecoArt Chalky Finish Paint.

I used a generic word stamp with black paint and randomly stamped the layout.

and a few quick stamps using a Kaisercraft splats stamp (which was in a previous SCD  kit) with mustard Gelato.

I then assembled the page and added a bit of happy sparkle with the sequins that came in the kit.

Another quick and easy layout for you.
But the next layout is something different again, showing you the fantastic versatility of the
Country Happiness Kit

Hope to see you then!
:-)

Love U2

Hi!!
Sandra here again sharing with you my third layout using the fun SCD Country Happiness Kit.
For this background I lightly added some brown and olive green ink with a dry dauber and lightly rubbed the kraft with it.

I blended some tea green and olive gelatos (not contained in the kit) on my work sheet and sprayed with some water - you could used some watercolour paints in place

Grabbing some crumpled up cling film I picked up the gelato and lighted dabbed the layout with it.

I also randomly stamped the background using a Kaisercraft bubblewrap stamp.

Isn't this a yummy looking concoction??

For this layout I had a bit of fun and experimented. :)

It is Clear Impasto mixed with  the Bronze Beck Beattie Tinby Design Metallic Melts that comes with the kit.
I then simply used it on a couple of old stencils (not in the kit)...   you could use any you have at home

Carefully lifted it off and then gently used a heat gun to start melting those Tinby Designs Metallic Melts in the impasto.

It is hard to photograph the effects.. but the butterfly and leaves have a lovely sheen from the Metallic Melts.
For this layout I went to town fussy cutting every single flower that was left on the patterned Adorn-It papers, altered the chipboard with the ArtDeco Chalky Finish Paint (with a touch of brown ink on the edges)  and I then assembled my layout.

I hope you try the technique using the Impasto, Melts and Stencils.
If you do, please share your results with us on the SCD Facebook page!

Thanks for stopping by.. and see you next time!!

Dreaming big

Hi Everyone Beck BT here and I'm here again to show you the second of my 3 layouts I have created with the new Fun and Free kit.  I'm still enjoying the wonderful goodies in this kit including the most divine papers, embellishments and not to mention some awesome products in the 2 lots of Alcohol inks as well as a The Crafter's Workshop Stencil.

Here is how I created the fun elements to my page:

Take the alcohol inks and add them randomly to the acetate.  Sit aside to dry either overnight or in the sun if at all possible

Cut out the coloured areas of the acetate to create a transparent background embellishment for your page.   This is where they will be placed when they are added to your page.

Take The Crafter’s Workshop stencil and add some texture paste to the background through the harlequin pattern of the stencil.  Set aside to dry

Add some Pink coloured alcohol ink to your craft mat and then using your fingers gently rub the colour over the raised areas of the stencilling randomly

Using some bubble wrap or a bubble wrap pattern stamp add some random stamping with an orange coloured ink pad (not in the kit) to the background.

When putting together the layout I also cut and embossed the turquoise coloured cardstock with the Reflective moments die set nested together so that I cut all three out at the same time.

Hope you enjoyed learning the techniques behind me creating this page and try and give them a go yourself.  Here are some more pics of the finished layout for you to enjoy.

Here is some more info on the kits. Kits are still $39 plus postage and are great value for money as they're like doing three classes in your own home. They are self-paced class classes that you can complete on your own or with a group of friends

Each month there will be LOADS of added inspiration with one of the designers creating 3 layouts (this month me!) of their own style with the kit while the other two ladies will be sharing some added techniques using the product in the kit, so you can learn more and more!  As members you will get the full technique sheets e-mailed out from the additional posts from the other two Arty Chics.

Each premier kit:
  • comes with video AND instructions to complete the three layouts
  • gives members technique sheets to further learn how to use the products in the kit in different ways.
  • features many techniques with product to be used well after the life of the kit.  (With all of our kits you will have plenty of product and knowledge to add to future projects)
  • comes with photos of each project including close up detailed pictures
  • comes with all the product needed to complete the projects with a list of additional basic items used such as ink/ paints/gesso/texture paste and colour sprays you might need out of your supplies.

I love what the Arty Chics have created using this beautiful kit..
And here is my layout..

***Image Removed for Publication ***

I have used a secret BUDGET ingredient to produce that crackled background... and it is a technique which I am sure you will use again on other projects.

My technique sheet, which is sent out to Scrappy Chat Designs members, shows a step by step on how I created the textured background

Captain Seaweed

Hello again!!
Another share with you using the fabulous Sea Breeze kit.

This is a layout of my son on our boat...and Captain Seaweed?? Well that is the name his dad calls him out on the water. :-)

For this layout I used the chipboard pieces as stamps to create a bit of interest to the background paper.

and then, when I had finished using them as stamps, I embossed inked them gold and then embossed them with the Tinby Metallic Melts.

I loved the affect it gave.
I added a bit of pumpkin Tinby melts as well to give it a brassy hue.

To create the embossed dots I used THIS technique I used on a previous layout

I also added a little peek a boo tear and tucked in the ships wheel.

LOVE how simply adding a bit of Tinby Metallic Melts gave texture to my layout.

Tickled Pink

Hi ho.

I've had a lot of fun working with the new kit from Scrappy Chat Designs. I've been very surprised with what I came up with for this one - because I opted to use the pink! I rarely scrap with pink and I'm so glad I did this time cos I love it!

Here's the layout:

Although I could have chosen from any of the colours in the kit, I really only ended up using three colours in this - teal, grey/silver and pink. I love how they go together so well. I never would have thought that pink would suit photos about the Australian bush but I've changed my mind now!

I cut down the large chipboard shape and used the silver Metallic Melts on it to make the framework under the photo.

Everything on this layout came with the kit, except for the string. There are an amazing three stamps in this kit and I used them all. They're my new faves!

If you're a Scrappy Chat Designs member then you will be emailed instructions on how I made the background and the butterfly stamped section and how I altered the letters. As a member you get heaps of info every month showing techniques, tips and hints as well as a minimum of three videos showing how to make the key three layouts from each kit. Contact orders.scrappychatdesigns.gmail.com.for more info.

Happy scrappin'!

The Geek.

Hi!
Sandra here with my  second share with you using the Dreams Imagined kit

I had a bit of a play with this one and just had fun with it.
I placed some of the Kaisercraft number alphas onto the page,
sprayed some black spray onto an acrylic block and just "whacked" it onto the alphas.
My goodness you should see the mess under the photo! lol
The "blobs" did end up being more solid than I anticipated so I added some stamping and a few sprays here and there.. and ended up with an even bigger mess!!! But I kinda liked it.
Once dried I peeled the alpha stickers off, leaving a cool mask.

.
I made the glasses from the black card that comes in the kit.
I used a paper piecing template I found online.
(Scrapbook Etc)
(the white bit is double sided tape.. without taking the protective side off, it matched the insulation tape used on the real glassed perfectly.)

Outlining parts of the journaling tags and elements help make them pop.

Sometimes even the barcodes from the papers are a perfect touch.. plus a bulldog clip I nicked from my husbands office... shhhh!! ;-)
and the finishing touch were some of the diamonds which I had already sprayed white from my first layout. Too easy!

And there it is .. my second layout.
I'll see you soon with my third layout... hmmmm.... might go a bit "prettier" with the next one. .. using the flowers in the kit.. and maybe making my own. ;-)
