Love U2

Hi!!
Sandra here again sharing with you my third layout using the fun SCD Country Happiness Kit.
For this background I lightly added some brown and olive green ink with a dry dauber and lightly rubbed the kraft with it.

I blended some tea green and olive gelatos (not contained in the kit) on my work sheet and sprayed with some water - you could used some watercolour paints in place

Grabbing some crumpled up cling film I picked up the gelato and lighted dabbed the layout with it.

I also randomly stamped the background using a Kaisercraft bubblewrap stamp.

Isn't this a yummy looking concoction??

For this layout I had a bit of fun and experimented. :)

It is Clear Impasto mixed with  the Bronze Beck Beattie Tinby Design Metallic Melts that comes with the kit.
I then simply used it on a couple of old stencils (not in the kit)...   you could use any you have at home

Carefully lifted it off and then gently used a heat gun to start melting those Tinby Designs Metallic Melts in the impasto.

It is hard to photograph the effects.. but the butterfly and leaves have a lovely sheen from the Metallic Melts.
For this layout I went to town fussy cutting every single flower that was left on the patterned Adorn-It papers, altered the chipboard with the ArtDeco Chalky Finish Paint (with a touch of brown ink on the edges)  and I then assembled my layout.

I hope you try the technique using the Impasto, Melts and Stencils.
If you do, please share your results with us on the SCD Facebook page!

Thanks for stopping by.. and see you next time!!

Dreaming big

Hi Everyone Beck BT here and I'm here again to show you the second of my 3 layouts I have created with the new Fun and Free kit.  I'm still enjoying the wonderful goodies in this kit including the most divine papers, embellishments and not to mention some awesome products in the 2 lots of Alcohol inks as well as a The Crafter's Workshop Stencil.

Here is how I created the fun elements to my page:

Take the alcohol inks and add them randomly to the acetate.  Sit aside to dry either overnight or in the sun if at all possible

Cut out the coloured areas of the acetate to create a transparent background embellishment for your page.   This is where they will be placed when they are added to your page.

Take The Crafter’s Workshop stencil and add some texture paste to the background through the harlequin pattern of the stencil.  Set aside to dry

Add some Pink coloured alcohol ink to your craft mat and then using your fingers gently rub the colour over the raised areas of the stencilling randomly

Using some bubble wrap or a bubble wrap pattern stamp add some random stamping with an orange coloured ink pad (not in the kit) to the background.

When putting together the layout I also cut and embossed the turquoise coloured cardstock with the Reflective moments die set nested together so that I cut all three out at the same time.

Hope you enjoyed learning the techniques behind me creating this page and try and give them a go yourself.  Here are some more pics of the finished layout for you to enjoy.

Here is some more info on the kits. Kits are still $39 plus postage and are great value for money as they're like doing three classes in your own home. They are self-paced class classes that you can complete on your own or with a group of friends

Each premier kit:
  • comes with video AND instructions to complete the three layouts
  • gives members technique sheets to further learn how to use the products in the kit in different ways.
  • features many techniques with product to be used well after the life of the kit.  (With all of our kits you will have plenty of product and knowledge to add to future projects)
  • comes with photos of each project including close up detailed pictures
  • comes with all the product needed to complete the projects with a list of additional basic items used such as ink/ paints/gesso/texture paste and colour sprays you might need out of your supplies.
The kits focus on how to use various products teamed up with some stunning papers to compliment them. There are always less- or non-consumable products in our kits to help you complete some beautiful projects and learn many techniques and different ways of using the products.

Carefree

Hello there!!
Sandra here to share with you my layout using this months FREESTYLE kit.

(and let me tell you, it's pretty awesome!)

I created this layout, Carefree.

I had a LOT of fun with the Spellbinders Silver Silk Luster that comes in the kit.
fantabulous stuff!
I used it differently in FIVE different places on my layout. Can you tell where?

My technique sheet, which is sent out to Scrappy Chat Designs members, shows the many ways  I used the Silk Luster and step by step photos.

Interested in becoming a member??

here is the lowdown.. ;-)

Friends, using the Catch Up Kit.

Hi there!
Sandra here with my very first post for  Scrappy Chat Designs.
I was so excited and honoured  to be asked by Beck to join her team and I am humbled that I am working alongside the very talented Heather McMahon and Renee Aslette, three very talented ladies whose work I have admired for such a long time.
I LOVED the Catch Up Kit that Beck sent me to play with.

Here is the layout I created to share with you.
Aren't they the most gorgeous colours??
So bright and fresh.

Sorry this layout is currently out for publication, you can still have a look at a wonderful technique used on this layout

When I first saw the stencil in the kit I thought it looked just  like a tree, and  when I pulled out a cold beverage from the fridge  a few moments later and saw this:

I knew I was on the right track  so that is what I ran with!
Instead of using texture paste or mediums with the stencil I went down a different road.

Using a pencil,  I traced some of the stencil onto white cardstock and then using the “cider tree” from the packaging as a guide I hand drew the tree trunk and branches.
Then with a craft knife I fussy cut out the leaves, and carefully rubbed out the pencil marks.
And this was the result.

I added a bit more doodling, using the cider tree again as a guide, for the tree trunk.
I picked one main patterned paper (I have used the grey side of the Fancy Pants “paddleboat” paper) to use as my main colour of the leaves and placed the stencil on top of this and used this as a guide... then came the fiddly, but fun,  bit!
Using scraps of paper.. (see! those 2inchx2inch scraps DO come in handy!! ;-) sticky tape them to the back of the cardstock under the stencil. (Don't stick that big piece of grey paper down just yet!!)

This is the back.. it gets really kind of messy doesn't it?!
*tip! keep the pieces of sticky tape small so that it doesn't show on the front of the layout.. it does get easier the more you stick on.

Then keep flipping , sticking and flipping again until you get the look you want and then stick the “Paddleboat” paper to the back of the cardstock on the stencil.

And this is what you end up with.

You might choose to use only one sheet of patterned paper behind the tree... this is much easier but still effective. Play with it! See what effect works for you.
J
Then I constructed the rest of the layout.

I am sure you will love playing with the Catch Up Kit as much as I did.
Gorgeous colours and papers, two fantastic stencils that I am sure you will use over and over again..  washi tape...and lots of stickers and diecuts to play with.. Heaps for future projects.
